Summary of Past Events

Study in Europe Day

A Study in Europe day was organised at Merit Hotel Nicosia on 18 November 2014 with the participation of seven EU delegations (UK, Germany, Netherlands, France, Italy, Finland, Sweden) as well as the delivery of presentations by representatives from the Embassy of Finland, Embassy of Sweden, Institut Francais, Goethe Institute and British Council. A total of 64 people visited the stands and 93 attended the presentations.

Official Launch Event

The official launch of the EU Scholarship Programme for the Turkish Cypriot Community 2015/16 Call took place at the Merit Hotel in Nicosia on 22 January 2015.  The launch was marked by the presence of Mr. Normunds Popens, Deputy Director-General of the DG REGIO, European Union.

A total of 80 people attende dthe launch including the Ambassador of the Netherlends and other officials from the delegation which accompanied Mr. Popens.

Short speeches were delivered by Sandra Hamrouni, Director British Council, Mr. Normaunds Popens, Deputy Director-General of DG REGIO, European Union, senior officials from the Turkish Cypriot community as well as two scholars from academic year 2013/14.

At the end of the speeches, guests stayed for a reception during which they had the opportunity to network.

 

Study in Europe Day

A second study in Europe Day was organised at the Merit Hotel on 28 January 2015 with the participation of seven EU Delegations (UK, Germany, Netherlands, France, Italy, Finland and Sweden) as well as the delivery of presentations by representatives from the Embassy of Finland, Embassy of Sweden, Institut Francaise, Geothe Institute and British Council.  A total of 92 people visited the stands and 128 attended the presentations.  In addition,  34 people attended the British Council's presentation on the EU Scholarship Programme.  During this final session, participants had the opportunity to find out details about the Programme including how to apply and other useful information.

The Study in Europe Day was marked by the presence of the Ambassodors of Finland an d Sweden.

 

Information sessions

A total of 7 information sessions were organized during the pre-launch of the Call between 8 December 2014 and 5 January 2015 in high schools in Nicosia, Famagusta and Kyrenia . A total of 440 people attended these events. Students, parents and teachers were given the opportunity to receive basic information about the scholarship programme.
